What to Look for in a Life and Wellness Coach
from:
Life coaching is a partnership. This is the essential thing that people must understand in order to look for the best life and wellness coach for them. When you are looking for a life and wellness coach, you are looking for a partner. This means you are looking for someone who can help you carry your burdens and someone who can help you face the pressure of everyday life.
Life and wellness coaching is quite controversial today, since it is a field which lacks standards. This means that there is no required educational attainment or experience for a person to become a life and wellness coach. This, in turn, means that you should be very careful in picking out a life and wellness coach for you to trust.
So how do you choose a life and wellness coach?
1) Go for experience – just because there are no official standards regarding life and wellness coaches does not mean you cannot make standards of your own. When choosing a life and wellness coach, try going for experience. By going for experience, you'll be assured that the life and wellness coach you pick at least knows what he or she is doing. Experience does not merely consist of the number of years that a life and wellness coach has been working. You should look into the number of cases that he or she has handled and try to listen to what his or her clients have to say.
2) Go for specialization – When choosing a life and wellness coach, you have to choose one that can truly help you with your problem. Life and wellness coaches generally specialize in these areas:
a) Career –life and wellness coaches who focus on your careers can help you with any problem you have regarding your chosen profession. He or she can help you realize whether or not you are satisfied with your current job. They will also help you advance in that job, or get a new one.
b) Transition coaching – Change is a normal part of life. However, some people can handle changes better than others. Transition life and wellness coaches can help people to cope with the different changes that go on around them. They help people realize the fact that everything will be all right. A life and wellness coach can help you adjust to the changes around you.
c) Personal coaching – if a person is having personal problems, a life coach can help him or her cope with those problems. Whether it concerns self-esteem issues or goal setting, a life and wellness coach can help a person put his life together and get going. Personal coaching can help a person gain the perspective that he or she needs to go on living.
d) Organizational coaching – some life and wellness coaches specialize in the management of organizations. These life and wellness coaches are hired to bring order to an organization and help them accomplish organizational goals. These life and wellness coaches can help organizations by showing them flaws in their organizational structure. They can also give suggestions as to how to improve the efficiency of an organization.
3) Go for education – although there is no specific course to be taken in order for a person to become a life and wellness coach, there are still some accomplishments that one should look for. You might want to choose a life and wellness coach who has a background in psychology. Some life and wellness coaches have backgrounds in human resource management.
